The pen is handmade from Granadillo also known as Mexican Rosewood. Granadillo is an exotic wood that is bright red to reddish or purplish brown with rather distinct stripes and is commonly used by many in South America for instrument building under the name Macacauba. Granadillo grows in Central America. The pen hardware is titanium gold plated.

The American 2000 is a high-end pen with a decorative and elegantly styled finial and end of barrel stud. The cap screws on barrel with a fast 1/4 turn (Quad Thread)and the cap posts on end of barrel with a fast 1/4 turn. A tight seal keeps ink fresh. A true "professional" looking and functioning pen, it has a stylish and rich appearance and balanced proportions to ensure comfort while using the pen both with and without the cap posted. The pen is approximately 5 1/2" long capped and 6 3/8" long posted. The American 2000 includes a two toned German iridium tipped nib and includes both a siphon pump and blue ink cartridge.
