The pen is handmade from Stabilized Red Dyed Box Elder Burl. Box Elder burls yield a very peculiar and highly figured wood prized for its beauty and rarity. The burl is injected under pressure with red dye and resin to further enhance and stabilize the wood and is then sanded and polished to a glass like finish. The pen hardware is 24kt gold plated.
